Inheritors from 16 Countries Participate in the “Nomads” World Cultural Festival
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia and the Mongolian Government’s implementing agency, the Department of Culture and Arts, hosted the “Nomads” World Cultural Festival at the valley of the Mountain “Taij Khairkhan” in Nalaikh district of Ulaanbaatar City on August 16-18, 2024.
This year, more than 140 participants from 16 countries joined the “Nomads” World Cultural Festival to celebrate intangible cultural heritage of the nomads, and promote their traditions, and culture. From Mongolia, approximately 1,000 inheritors from 21 aimags and nine districts of the Capital city, as well as over 150 relevant organizations, participated in the Festival. A total of 780 programs promoting 362 species of seven types of intangible cultural heritage were presented to the visitors.
Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia Nomin Chinbat highlighted, “Countries with a nomadic culture are invited to participate in the “Nomads” World Cultural Festival 2024. The Festival aims at promoting the intangible cultural heritage of the Mongols and transmitting it to future generations. We believe this will significantly contribute to the realization of goals outlined in Mongolia’s long- and short-term development policy. Additionally, the Festival will foster the creation of internationally competitive cultural events demonstrating a nomadic culture of Mongolia, thereby attracting more tourists to Mongolia each year.”
On January 25, 2024, the Government of Mongolia issued a Resolution on Organizing the “Nomads” World Cultural Festival annually.
